On Funen, there is a long tradition of paper cut art. Most people know that H.C. Andersen could do more than write fairy tales. He was also a very skilled paper cut artist. Few people know that the paper cut tradition is alive and well on Funen today – and that’s a shame.
Tobaksgaarden, Assens would like to change that and therefore the cultural center has invited four Funen paper cut artists to exhibit at Tobaksgaarden in the period 16 / 8-20 / 9 2008, every day at 13-18.
The artists are Sonia Brandes, Kirsten Berg, Karsten Hermansen, and my self Torben Jarlstrøm Clausen.
On the occasion of the Willemoes 2008 celebration, the exhibition will include new works that go into themes such as Peter Willemoes, heroes, and the sea.
Peter Willemoes was born and raised in Assens.
